On the 16th of October 2017, a huge flaw has been discovered in the secure Wifi (WPA2) that we all trust. It causes a great attack which is called Key Reinstallation Attacks (Krack). The good news is that the attacker needs to be physically in the range of your Wifi to be able to attack and steal your private data.
So, the attacker will be able to reach all your data, abuse, and steal your sensitive information including your credit card numbers, passwords, chat messages, photos and so on.
Also, it’s worth mentioning that this weak point is in the Wifi standard itself and is not in a particular device or product.
In case if you’re using a device that supports Wifi, it’s most likely affected. So, as soon as the security updates become available, you need to update them right away.
In addition, big companies have announced that soon they will release software updates to issue this problem. For example, Apple has declared that they’ve developed updates to iOS and MacOS that’ll be released soon.
Google as well -who is responsible for Android software- announced that they will release a patch on November 6.
As for Microsoft, they said that they have already developed an automatic security update for Windows 7, 8 and 10 users.
Be careful and take all the suitable precautions to face “Krack”.
